Same sex attraction.

Well, apparently the desire to be with someone of the same sex no longer stems out of the simplicity of attraction. Some people do it for attention or to "fit in".

In the history of ancient Rome, many older men had younger male, uh... companions. Perhaps this idea of tradition was their stimulus to cause homosexual tendencies. In today's society, it is not hard to believe that if someone sees homosexuality as an acceptable trait to utilize that trait to also be an acceptable person.

I know that seems odd or illogical, but things like this do occur and therefore should not be ruled out.

Well actually, the Romans were against homosexuality. It was the Greeks that condoned it.

Some people just have different sexual preferences. That's really all there is to it.

Though unfortunately, people still argue that they "have something in their brains that is not wired correctly". I however think that it really has a lot to do with nurture and early development stages that manifest themselves after reaching the teen years.

Could perhaps amend the question to 'What makes a creature homosexual?' as animals manifest this type of sexual behaviour also.

Well, I think that can only work for animals that actually use sex for pleasure.

Many do. Most notably primates.

I can only think of three primates that do this: humans, gibbons, and bonobos... That does not seem like that many to me. What else does, uh dolphins, anything else which is proven?

Point is it's not just humans.

Many people believe it's genetic. My cousin has some gay friends, and they say it's not their choice, and she said one of them wishes he was straight, every single day.

Many animal species have individuals that demonstrate homosexuality, leading one to think that it is more genetic than nurturing. As an evolutionary adaptation it may just be random, or some sort of artifact like male nipples.

Personal preference? I doubt its something genetic that can be passed down.
