What is inside batteries that makes them work? How do they run out of power?

If I am correct, it's battery acid. And they run out of power when they run out of acid.

I believe you are correct. I am thinking that the acid holds the electrical charge that keeps a battery running.

Generally there are two parts, one is the cathode, the other is the anode, using chemical reactions(a lot of the time oxidation others through h+ reactions) the battery moves electrons from one chamber to the other through a wire on the outside and some sort of electrolyte on the inside. its just basically the exchange of anions and cations.

Primary Batteries cannot reverse this chemical reaction, but secondary batteries can when introduced to an electrical current.

They run out of power when the chemicals are done converting.
