Ford or Chevy? Which is better? Examples please.

CoffeeFiend: Several people I know are split into parties. One is for Ford (which I am a part of) and the other is for Chevrolet. It is a constant battle and I would like some outside input.

I like Fords. Old Fords are king. There is nothing like a red 1965 Mustang Fastback with a black interior and a 4 speed !!!

I love cars, especially the high performance cars. So my opinion is on performance cars. Ford has the mustang and the GT, well done ford. But Chevys line up is so much better. Chevy has the Chevelle, Camaro and Corvette. Those are real cars! Rumors has it that Ford cars always have problems. I haven't heard to many rumors for Chevy.

Ah, but rumors start because someone doesn't like the car or brand. On the subject of performance cars you might want to look back in history. For instance, why not look at hot rods? True performance cars, built for their purpose. Even then, we can go back further. The 1932 Ford Five Window Coupe, Ford V-8 engine. The most recognizable car when it comes to hot rods. There is a Chevrolet Five Window Coupe as well, however, very few sold, and even fewer have survived the test of time. That is just one example, and one of my personal arguments.

I love older suv's. In the bronco (ford) vs blazer (chevy) category if your looking at power or towing range the bronco wins. The xlt ford bronco comes standard with a 351 winsor engine 5.8 L v8 while the Chevy only comes standard with a V6 4.3. For vehicles meant for the same purpose the bronco wins out.

Fords are generally accepted to be the better handling of the two, but both make very good cars. in my opinion, chevrolet makes better looking cars, and some are even better performing than fords. the new camaro for example is going to be more powerful, more efficient and better handling than the mustang thanks to it's standard 250hp v6, optional variable displacement capabilities and independant rear suspension, which is infinitely better than the mustangs primitive solid rear axle. however, there are more things to factor in, such as comfort levels, warrenties and build quality when deciding which car is better. it also must be remembered that chevrolet is a part of General Motors, which makes GMC, Saturn, Buick, Pontiac, Lotus and Caddilac. Ford makes Murcury, Lincoln, Volvo, and up until last year, Aston Martin and Jaguar. these cars are all really in their own catagory, in that lincoln and caddilac compete for the luxury models, Buick and Murcury make touring cars, and Chevrolet and Ford make some sportier cars and general all purpose vehicles. i hope that answers your question, and if there was a main answer i had to give it would be that oone cannot go wrong buying from either. Chrysler is OK too, i guess.
