If it's to be a good interactive one, all three of them.

Eah, that's not very good news, seeing as I'm absolutely horrible at all of those.

Not to worry. Bit of practice is all it takes. Just get stuck in. I don't know as much as I'd like to either but that's cause FORTRAN was the only language I had to study.

Mhmm. I sure one of the great coders of this site would be willing to help you out with it or at least give you some tips.

Another language that just popped into my head is CSS. That's a handy thing to know. :)

To make the new forums on this site I used HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP.

HTML/CSS is what is displayed to the browser. I used Javascript for things like edit post/delete post. PHP is what stores the threads and posts and decides the logic of what to show to the page. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I only put 2 days into the forums work wise. Started them about a month ago, and finished them yesterday.

What you should know before starting a forum is that a forum is sort of like the culmination of everything you have learned in web design. You shouldn't start them until you know how to do almost everything else. This sometimes discourages users who want custom forum software, but it is extremely complicated. A nice blend of all the right languages can give you a really great and interactive forum.

I can be more specific if you wish just comment me.
