What are some things I can do in my everyday life to live more green?

pandabear: I'm trying to be "green" but it's actually hard to break the cycle of being wasteful. I'm just looking for simple, low-cost ideas.

The first, most obvious thing to do, would be to recycle all of your cans, newspapers, and stuff like that (make sure they can be recycled by checking what the number inside the recycle logo is).
Don't forget to unplug everything when you're not using it.
If you have a desktop computer, unplug the monitor, the computer itself, the speakers, everything.
Try to run the dishwasher only when you have a full load, that will save lots of water.
And don't take baths, take showers, and try to take the shortest showers possible.
And if you eat meat, try to eat only local-grown meat, it saves lots of energy.

epa.gov has some pretty sweet sections pertaining to this but here are a few easy ones:

Unplug stuff! Many devices such as cell phone chargers, ipod chargers, etc. drain energy at all times even if you aren't using it. This is called phantom energy and accounts for a large chunk of Americans wasted energy.

Rainwater harvest: Set up a rainwater collection tank in your backyard to use for washing of cars, watering of lawns, etc.

Don't use the garbage disposal on the sink: This little bugger grinds up food to fit down the drain and puts a strain on the wastewater plant cuasing more energy to be used to clean the water.

Just a couple....hope these help!

Quit drinking water from plastic bottles. Even those crappy ones that are 30% less plastic!

Also, in the bathroom, use the Sheryl Crow(aka Ranger) method.

Buy some solar plates to power your house,
Also, buy a MDI Car from france. They run off of compressed air.
