Do bees come out at night?

bobbonew: I'm horribly afraid of bees, let me smoke my cigarette at night in peace!

You're more likely to see them in the daytime, when flowers are more "awake".

Bees are more active during the day, and anyway, smoke makes them kinda "drowsy" I'm not sure if that's the right word for it, but it definitely lowers your chance of one doing anything to you.

I've actually never seen a bee at night now that you mention it. So weird. =/

Moths are the main nighttime pollinators. The bees are all asleep.

I have a nest of bees in the soffit of my roof. At night or early morning when it's still dark, I turn on my outside light (it's a hallogen bulb), a swarm of them surround the light. By swarm, I mean 20-30. It started out as about 10. The nest must be from one side of the house to the other, because about 10 feet away from the light, the bees swarm around the soffit, but only during the day. I'm not sure if they are the same bees....but these are attracted to the light like moths...its scary

The light excites them. Beekeepers use red lights at night when working with bees because the red light does not awaken them. Still, there are so many bees, maybe some are night bees.

I have just called Orkin to come out to my house about night bees, they swarm front and back porch lights and are getting into the house, I was stung in the foot the other night and after removing the stinger found there were four more on the kitchen floor.
I will let everyone know what the bee man says about the night bees-I have never seen anything like this.
