Eventually there will be a cure for everything. But then a new disease will be born. And the cycle will go on.

I was talking to my younger brother, a doctor, about this recently. He said that he thought there would eventually be cures for some cancers; but others are just too complex to solve the riddle.

Well, [some] cancers have been linked to certain sequences in human genomes. It is possible that these may be very (if not impossible) for people to combat.

Perhaps something could show up to help cure cancer. But more than likely, they will only be able to come up with ways to lower your chances of getting cancer and maybe do routine check-ups so as to catch cancer in earlier stages. Already things like this exist (do not smoke to avoid the possibility of lung cancer, protect your skin with sunscreen to avoid skin cancer, etc.), but none of these things can ever completely prevent you from the chance of cancer.

There is a theory that cancer itself is the cure, because of the fact that it doesn't seem to want to die. If all normal human cells carried on in a uniform fashion the way cancer does, we may be rendered immortal, but that's just a theory.

Otherwise yes, genetic therapy, drugs, radiation, eventually it will reach a point of specialization that cancers cannot exist for too long in humans. The amount of time that will pass between then and now, however, it indeterminable.

I think so, as time goes on and technology advances there should be a cure for most cancers.
