A shooting star is a meteor, burning up inside Earths atmosphere, and a comet is a piece of rock orbiting the sun VERY fast.

You should use the comment feature to say things like that, not add a new answer.

Way to beat me to it Luke. >:

She's probably reading the pm I just sent her. In any case, I'll let it slide cause she's new to the site.

Welcome by the way.

An asteroid is nothing more than a large rock in space. A meter is the exact same thing, except it's inside Earths' atmosphere,

Comets don't generally enter the atmosphere..

Comets *NEVER* enter the atmosphere. If one did, it would probably burn up our atmosphere, crash and land, causing massive destruction.
And if it's classified as a comet, it won't enter our atmosphere. Then it would be a meteor.

well, I said generally because they were scared it was going to happen a while back, and if it did its most likely it would keep going thus still being a comet, but seriously messing up our planet. My apologies for the media misleading me.
