Obviously a PC.

Unless you are a rich kid and want the "world's" thinnest laptop or are really into music and the graphical arts (which you can still do on a PC) it isn't worth the time.

The majority of the mature world uses PCs because of the functionality and variety in the machines as well as the expanse selection of programs that will run on your machine.

This is an opinion question. And I personally go with a Mac. The file saving system and the low risk factor of getting a virus is enough for me.

Going along with what "theoriginalstew" said, it is totally opinion based. I'm all for the PC. I just figure that its a lot easier to use and such.

Plus, I'm a bit of a game programmer. It's very hard to program games on a Mac because of the lack of support in that area.

I'd also like to point out that the old argument (a remnant of the 90s) stating the superiority of Mac's for graphic design work is much weaker when applied to the current generations of Mac's and PC's . Nowadays many of the leading software packages work just as effectively and efficiently on PC's as they do on Mac's. In that respect, it really is down to workspace preferences.

If money is not a factor, I would say Mac, because you always have the option to switch to pc if you don't like OS X, or you could even dual boot if you like them both.

PC for sure, all throughout high school my mac would freeze like 100 times a day and I can never forgive them for that..plus Justin Long is a tool shack.

I think the point needs to be made that "PC" (personal computer) is inclusive of anything that runs the MAC operating system. That being said, OSX is neat to play with but windows is still the winner on compatibility.

Its an ancient counting device. I would love to see a steampunk style abacus/babbage engine computer being made!

I believe it is the PC, purely for the reason: You can do as you like with it. From interior parts to all the various types of o.s., everything you create is basically yours, and that makes it better to me.

PC.

For a really basic reason, I hate the way Mac does their advertising.

Can't stand using Macs themselves anyway. My friend Jessi has a brand new Mac Book Pro that her parents paid thousands of dollars for.

It won't even connect properly to routers anywhere. She gets poor signal and it's generally slow all the time with just running basic programs. Her other computers will just fine though. And my laptop is fine with her router. So it's not the router at all. It's ridiculous to pay so much to have random stuff not even work.

I've had even worse experiences with the Mac desktops.

I love both operating systems and I dual boot them on my Macbook Pro.

I really see no reason why there has to be a forced choice between the two.

And the way people rage about it is quite amusing.

Here's what I think:
I hate, hate, hate, HATE, HATE Macs.

BUT: I prefer the Mac operating system to Windows.

So all I'd have to do to get the perfect computer for me, is to buy a computer from HP or Dell or something, and then load OS X on it.

You know that goes against the terms and agreements of OS X? You aren't supposed to load it onto a PC last I was told. I found out that I could put OS X on my Asus Eee but the guide said "This is highly illegal, so don't do this."

For legal purposes, lets just say that he really meant he wanted to load a Linux OS that merely resembles OS X.

Alright that's fine then. Lolz. There are guides out there to teach you how to load a "Linux OS that resembles OS X" =]]

I think it depends on what you do on the computer.
