Why do people hate Vista?

It's not THAT horrible, but it can be really annoying sometimes.

Vista is horrible.
they fixed a lot of the problems with 7 though, so I'm no longer complaining.

Personally, I think if you have the ability to write an operating system, you should do it, if you don't then don't complain about operating systems other people made. Vista is horrible, yes. Vista was a HUGE mistake, yes. Vista also made an insane amount of money just because it looks cool and most computer users know nothing about an operating system.

It was smart for them to make it look so much better so I can't say Vista was a total loss, but I will say that as an operating system it is some junk they compiled way too early. 7 is SO much better.

Vista and XP where the same thing in performance right after Vista had SP1, IMO. I don't have Vista, in fact I prefer it over XP. The thing is, that Vista really blew things out of proportion with all the compatibility issues and all that. I agree with the guest aboved, that it was compiled way too early. It had its annoyances, and XP has its annoyances too (I hate it how XP won't let me open more than one pic at once using the pic viewer, for example :( ).
