There is the story about the French anthropologists a hundred years ago in Africa studying with a Dogon tribe who taught them all about our own solar system with diagrams in the sand. When asked where they learned this information the Dogon elders said it was taught to them by beings from the sky. Then retold as sacred teachings passed on down the generations. They said that the beings told them they came from the sirius star system (Dog Star) of not just one sun but three. It was described to them that one of these suns was smaller, darker and much heavier than normal. This was all apparently documented at their university in Paris back then. The mystery is that we only realised that Sirius was a triple star system when they discovered late last century using modern astronomical techniques that a small brown dwarf (Sirius C) actually existed...

There is no proof proof to date, at least that is publicly known, but they think they may have found microbial life near volcanic vents under miles of ice on one of uranus's moons I think.

I recently had a conversation with the head of the Physics department at West Chester University. He was telling me and a friend that the probability of their being life in some other universe than ours is ten to the one thousandth power which is a number so large it is unfathomable to the human mind. This number grows larger ever year. The improbability of life in our universe attests to this very well tested theory. There is a possibility outside physics though, concepts of alternate realities, and ancient understandings of reality, and the ridiculously little knowledge we have about the cosmos can also give hope, but according to physics its basically impossible.
