Where can I get the cheapest car insurance?

Kenbo: I am 23 years old, and I have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am GT (The Questional.com car, lol). I have never been in an accident. I have always been on my parents insurance, and I'm trying to get my own. Any ideas?

To be honest you're best off staying on your parents' insurance. Otherwise, prices from various companies will depend on where you live. Check progressive.com to see what their rates are (supposedly they compare with other companies too). You're best off just checking the big name companies (Allstate, Geico, Progressive, whatever) online and seeing how they compare to your current rate.

Haha, Geico. I'm not really sure how comparable their rates are to anyone else, but damn they do great at advertising, because it's all I can even remember.

I know you can take defensive driving courses to reduce your insurance rates, which are pretty standard with all agencies. You should be able to get free estimates from just about anyone at there. Car insurance is always relative to the person, car etc. so it's probably worth investigating.

Call around to local agents. They can hook you up with somebody that gives the bare minimum at a good rate for your state. Then call around and see if anyone can beat them.

You could just wait a year or two. Insurance companies charge more if you're under 24 or 25 )I can't remember which one it is). Plus, guys are charged more than girls. I'm about to be 20 in three in a half months and my insurance is only $30 a month under my parents. I drive a Toyota Camry 2.2I4. I'm making the point that it is a four cylinder, but it's a bigger four cylinder. I don't know how the price ranges for engine size... most four cylinders are 1.8s. One of my friends as the V6 version of my car and her insurance is like... $140 a month in her name and will only drop to a bit under $100 when she's a little older.

I have no tickets on my record. I also get a discount for being a student.

I think that State Farm is pretty cheap. You should look into it.
