If you like all the games and apps and other hoopla, go with iPod (touch in particular) but otherwise I would recommend the Zune because you can use music not from a particular program which allows you freedom of choice and you are guaranteed to have your songs easily accesible for other devices as well.

They also have Radio access on zunes and a few games on the newer models.

I own an iPod, but playing around with the new Zunes makes me feel like I'd enjoy those more if I took the time to get used to the way they function.
Being able to set songs up to "play next" is a nice feature that has been absent from regular iPods for way too long now.

It's a sturdier product, too, but at the expense that it's considerably thicker.

I personally think one of the biggest drawbacks of using an IPod is the bundling of ITunes with it. It's seriously enough to deter me from buying one myself. I would happily search for alternatives to them for this very reason. Any software which by default wants to manage my device for me and put everything i own on it has the thumbs down from me. Granted, It is able to be configured to work in other manners, But the option to use direct transfer to the device as opposed to loading it via itunes does not exist as far as i can see. So probably a Zune xD

I think Ipod is better than Zune.

Yes, if you want an MP3 PLAYER then you should get a Zune. If you want a device that has crap apps that likes to crash a lot and is overpriced then get an iPod.

By the way, Zune has games now. =]

It would take $30,000 to fill a 120gig iPod.

Yeah. I should probably mention "legally" it would take $30,000 to fill a 120gig iPod.

Hmm you can add movies on there which take up several GB; that would lessen the $30,000 heavily.

Depends on the encoding. MP4 video files are compressed pretty well. =D

Quite true, its been a while since I encoded a video. And tbh I have yet to encode one for my iPod.

I don't like either. I prefer Zen's.

It's a bit apples )no pun intended) and oranges. Personally I think the Zunes are hideously designed. Very fond of my iPod.

Oh, and just FYI, the $30,000 to fill an iPod thing is total idiocy. It assumes you have a 120GB model )rather than say, an 8GB Nano or Touch) and that the only thing you'll put on it is music. I have a ton of podcasts )all free), and you can put videos and photos on there, too. And with Microsoft's subscription model coming out for Zune, it's basically infinite dollars to fill a Zune. )If we're going to be picky and stupid, we may as well go the whole hog.)

Check out both, and the competition. They all have things to recommend them.

It's not stupid at all, that's just how it is. People don't fill their iPods up with podcasts and other crap like that, nor do they just fill them up with videos and photos (not to mention videos cost money).

Point is, Apple makes the iPod with the intent that people are going to illegally download everything.

Yes I pointed out a 120gig iPod. It doesn't assume. It tells you exactly how many gigs. I didn't say just "it takes $30,000 to fill a iPod."
