When you add a shape, it requires you to simplify it before you can change it at all. Is there a way to do that without having to press the simplify button?

I suspect you're thinking of Illustrator as there's no "simplify" option in Photoshop. You can use Illustrator's Simplify option on an object with a large amount of anchor points... perhaps this is what you're thinking of?

Ahh, you're using Elements 7. I just assumed you were using standard photoshop out of CS4.

Unfortuantely I'm ignorant when it comes to Elements... all I found was [link name=this]http://help.adobe.com/en_US/PhotoshopElements/7.0_Win/WSae2ea3b149d0c3591ae939f103860b3d59-7fa1.html[/link] and it's probably something you already know.

Yeah, I've never used Elements before, just 7, CS2 and CS3. Not sure if I can help you regarding your issue then.

However, your programs will generally not automatically do things such as that for you, presumably in case you need to mess with an anchor point.
