Chewing tobacco causes the same effects as smoke tobacco, except since you don't breathe it in - rather, you chew it - you are more likely to receive oral cancer than lung cancer.

Kenbo (7 months ago) I know it is bad for your mouth, and does cause oral cancer. But, if it is swallowed, would it cause throat cancer? Stomach Cancer? Does the tobacco mess with your stomach and intestines?

Tollenaar (7 months ago) The reason it tears away at your mouth is because, just like cigarettes, it's loaded with carcinogens. No matter the ingestion, the toll it takes will be the same. If you swallow it, yes, it's going to damage your digestive system.

It is really harmful to swallow it. However I've been doing it for years. I'm like 22 but I have been chewing the stuff for about 10 years and swallowing it. Seriously it gets just so addictive my teeth are proper messed up. That's why I get them cleaned and stain removal every 2 months. Its really expensive but worth it all the same. My dentist tells me off all the time but what can you do its just so addictive. I also have it with this white stuff which is taken from limestone, I think, which just makes it even worse. Most of the time I have it with acura nut which taste even better, but again it is very harmful so don't chew it as nice and euphoric as it is. Don't worry it is legal.

Guest (3 months ago) I have a brother in law that chewed for many years. He was a marine and a very self sufficient man. Recently his stomach stopped working and he is trying to live off ensure and constantly is nauseous. We found out he was swallowing his chew all these years. He went from 170 lbs to 139 lbs and is barely surviving. If you are doing this, stop now while you still have some health.
