Is swallowing chewing tobacco bad for you? Kenbo:
I don't use chewing tobacco, but I have heard that it can be harmful to swallow it. So, I am very curious. If so, why is it harmful?

Chewing tobacco causes the same effects as smoke tobacco, except since you don't breathe it in - rather, you chew it - you are more likely to receive oral cancer than lung cancer.

It is really harmful to swallow it. However I've been doing it for years. I'm like 22 but I have been chewing the stuff for about 10 years and swallowing it. Seriously it gets just so addictive my teeth are proper messed up. That's why I get them cleaned and stain removal every 2 months. Its really expensive but worth it all the same. My dentist tells me off all the time but what can you do its just so addictive. I also have it with this white stuff which is taken from limestone, I think, which just makes it even worse. Most of the time I have it with acura nut which taste even better, but again it is very harmful so don't chew it as nice and euphoric as it is. Don't worry it is legal.

I know it is bad for your mouth, and does cause oral cancer. But, if it is swallowed, would it cause throat cancer? Stomach Cancer? Does the tobacco mess with your stomach and intestines?
