The amount of letters in the extension name. No seriously, that's it. They're the same. |

I don't know the exact answer but I've heard it has something to do with DOS only allowing a 3 letter file extension and, whoever facilitates the jpg standards, adjusted it so it wouldn't conflict. |

They are the same. JPG is the short version of JPEG, justl like CPP is the short version of "C++" files. |
