What's the difference between JPG and JPEG?

The amount of letters in the extension name. No seriously, that's it. They're the same.

I don't know the exact answer but I've heard it has something to do with DOS only allowing a 3 letter file extension and, whoever facilitates the jpg standards, adjusted it so it wouldn't conflict.

I've also heard Macs use JPEG's instead of JPG's. Not sure what the real answer is but, as Moonrise said, they're identical.

They are the same. JPG is the short version of JPEG, justl like CPP is the short version of "C++" files.
