What do you think technology will be like in 20 years?

bobbonew: I can definitely see computers being at least 10 times as fast. Medical technologies squashing cancer and AIDS, and greener technology being at the forefront. Here's hoping!

Hope is nice, but reality will set in. As the global population continues to soar to complete collapse, technologies in mass food production from unconventional sources (bacteria, rats, Soylent), crowd control, and sterilization gasses will advance. Other technologies that help a police state maintain control in an increasingly chaotic world will move forward (surveillance, data bases, weaponry), and some of that stuff will trickle down to the rest of us in the form of games and other diversions. Sort of Mad Max meets the Blade Runner.

I agree with computers being faster. I've already seen a computer with SIXTEEN GBs of RAM. In 20 years, I can't imagine how fast that could be.
I've also seen on Modern Marvels that people are developing (literally) paper thin televisions.
And something on the Science Channel (or maybe History) said that if you're optimistic, we may make it to Mars by then.
Oh! And my mom said she read in Discover Magazine that wireless charging was in development.
Oh yes, and don't forget the 128-bit computer developed by IBM.

I think many of the personal transport units that we utilize will become uncommon. A different, more eco-friendly, type of vehicle will monopolize the market in most countries.

As far as cell phones go, I think those will be obsolete in twenty years as well. I cannot say what I think will have replaced them, but I am guessing it will be some multifunctional object that will be similar to a laptop. Honestly, that is the direction most phones are going. They are becoming tiny variety function laptops with voice communication as the optional feature rather than the main function. Heh, really, it will probably combine with video game console units. So it will do every electronic leisure activity that anyone could desire. But they all will still have bad lifespans for their battery units.

Oh, and one other thing that I believe will become more mainstream in the twenty years for technology. I think a significant amount of people will have a small microchip embedded under their skin just after birth. You know, so that the governments of the world can keep tabs on all their slaves, oh wait I had intended to say citizens.

That concludes my thoughts on basic technology that will, in my mind, probably appear in the next twenty years on this earth.

The movie "Minority Report" with Tom Cruse depicts a lot of technology that is being developed today.

I see war on the horizon.
Tech will be focused on that unfortunately. Unless everyone is dead.

Do you think technology will be more advanced, and computers will be much faster? We will find cures for most diseases. Technology is already faster than we thought twenty years ago because back than we didnt even have very many cell phones. Now, what will happen i have six year olds with iphones and they know how to use them better than thier parents. Technology is already so advanced so if it advances any more how will we be able to compete with technoglyI agree with computers being faster. I've already seen a computer with SIXTEEN GBs of RAM.
