Have you ever seen the movie Riverworld? Thoughts?

god: I was watching it on the channel formerly known as scifi, and it is a strange concept that someone would be collecting ever person as they died and then, seemingly, randomly de-age the people and, at even more random intervals, release them back into this "Riverworld:.

Thinking back, does it classify as a movie even?

No, I haven't ever heard of it. What was the "riverworld"?

Well, it starts out with an astronaut dieing via meteor field. Then he is underwater in some sort of spherical pod and he sees a grim reaper looking creature. It gives him some kind of premonition, and he is revived. He washes up on a beach to find a big pile of clothes, and metal canisters. Then a wave of people are revived. One of them is Nero, of Rome. You find out they aren't the first or only people to be revived and various others are already living there. Nero takes over, the astronaut is helped by Mark Twain, and then the Astronaut kills nero and starts going up river to meet these grim reaper people.

It is based on a series of books by Jose Farmer. In the books, the British explorer is the hero, and learns to commit suicide easily to escape the violent and perverted societies along the River. Many people are kept tied up and naked in the dark, because each person is supplied with a kit that respawns all sorts of food and goods, and some want the stuff for themselves.

Book after book after book came out and I stopped reading them. Not bad though, but some imagery is disturbing and lingers in the memory.
