blogger/blogspot is good to, that is where I had my personal blog before I became a writer here...

If your looking to blog, Questional is always looking for new writers; especially right now.

If you want, send me a private message to Gexthelizard who manages blogs articles on the site, and perhaps she could use you. :)

Yep, we do have a blog feature here. If you're interested let me know and we can get you set up :)

Umm, correct me if I am wrong, but don't the writers here on staff need to have some background of being able to write semi decently? I didn't think we'd be giving just anyone a blog because they want to blog.... Shouldn't we be more selective of who comprises our staff guys?

Not to sound rude, but if just anyone can become a writer here, that kinda cheapens the whole thing doesn't it?

My thoughts exactly, mishimi.
There is a screening process, isn't there? (not to imply anything negative about aragornjm, whom I have no knowledge of.)

Anyone's welcome to write here and start, if what they write something that's not up-to-par we do have an editing team that will help them out and get their entries at an acceptable level to publish. There is a screening process for the articles, and an editing process we go through to make sure posts are up to par before they're published. Good question though!

If necessary I can send a sample of writing from my past as a journalist as the sports editor of a professional (albeit small) newspaper as well as editor of my school paper. Or I can send a short story that I'm rather proud of. :)

We do need sports writers, and if you wrote for a newspaper, that is more than enough to qualify you.... So I guess we can say, welcome to the team....

And what you said Gex, makes sense... I suppose all of the people we give writer positions to have chances to show they can write well, and if they cannot, chances are their articles will never be published from said screening/editing processes right? And eventually they will either have their staff status revoked and/or they will just lose interest in writing....

That makes sense if that's what you mean.....

I was just under the impression we had to have an established writing background BEFORE being offered a position here... As my personal blog is what got me my staff position offer to begin with...

That's pretty much the idea, yeah. Anyone can have a chance, but obviously if they write like the average 14 year old on Fanfic.net they're not going to be on writing staff for very long. Anyone is welcome to join, with or without a background in writing (but it's always a plus!) especially since this may well be a starting place for one's writing career.

Most of the people we contact vs volunteer are because we've noticed they have skills writing like happened with you Mishimi, you're absolutely right. We don't want to limit things, plenty of people without much background can write quite well. Like I said, if they're consistently not up to par they'll be notified and demoted as needed.

And yes, sports writers would be great! Our goal is to eventually have writing teams for various subjects, of which one is definitely sports. We've already got 2 or 3 people who are looking to write about sports, and the more the merrier for sure. You're not limited to writing about just 1 topic, or when the subject-based groups are formed to only participate in one group. Have fun with it!
