What Are You Expecting From Google Chrome OS?

Vermillion: Like you may or may not know, Google announced they are going to work on their own operating system, Chrome OS, based on minimalist yet useful features.

I personally want to see it having its own kernel rather than basing it on something free like Linux, and it should be accessible and easy to use for everyone. Also, it should be easy to program for it, so having easy to understand frameworks and using a popular programing language for its apps is a must in my opinion.

Eh I just read a bit about it. It will essentially be based on a Linux kernel. Not that I hate Linux or anything, but I expected more from Google. What a boner killer.

I am pretty certain that it is based upon Linux but that won't stop them from being creative with it much like Google Chrome the browser. It definitely has its benefits to offer but there are other alternatives that will most likely offer much more.

It's being made with Netbooks in mind, so it's going to be pretty damn basic and won't really offer much in the way of add-ons and the like unless they truly allow people to make a ridiculous amount of tools, applications, etc. like with linux distributions.

People are already tired of netbooks and that overpopulated market....

I'd much rather have a mobile workstation instead of an overpriced netbook, that's for sure.

With netbooks in mind, I'm expecting something that beats everything else and, one thing I'd like to see, is an OS that doesn't require a lot of power to run to save battery. If Chrome is able to beat any OS in just that area I'm already interested.

I'm not sure what to expect, but I expect it to be pretty good given it's coming from Google. I'm almost afraid to use it though - Google Chrome was used partially to gather information on what people were doing on the net to be used in the search engine algorythm so I'm not sure what Google's OS will be tracking. I find it a little scary that these things are so readily and easily tracked.

Like Comcast selling my web history to third party sources for collecting. :(

Exactly, it's scary how much info goes out on the net and can be abused isn't it?
