How do you deal with internet/forum trolls?

Mishimi: Just curious...... Most of the time I either ignore them, or say something silly or light hearted to one up them because as most people know, most trolls game plans are to post nonsense just to try and get a rise out of people. They usually don't really believe any of the stuff they say, and making people upset just gives them a hard on. I usually find their incoherent drivel to be rather hilarious, so nothing worth getting upset or overly annoyed at....

Don't get me wrong, I do find them to be annoying, most people do, but I do not comment in a way that shows that I am annoyed to the point they get the reaction that they want out of me.

I find them interesting for the most part, especially the skilled ones. At one forum site some old hag called everyone a troll with whom she disagreed. It turned out that she was the troll all along. I'll engage them just because they can, at times, keep things interesting.

That is true at times, yes. Most trolls I have come across though are pretty poor at it.

I'll usually go along with it, 'cause sometimes they can be really funny. If it's something that's seriously offensive (although, I very rarely get offended) or just plain gross I'll report the post.

That's cool.... The important thing is that they do not succeed in getting a rise out of you...

I'll typically contribute to their trolling, troll them, or build an entirely different troll of my own.

Mishimi, you closed down a forum because you got owned by trolls. You're the last person who should be giving out advice on this subject.
