We wouldn't feel pain but the detrimental effects of any injury would still be there. Infections would still be a big worry. Sadly I don't think we're going to lose our pain receptors anytime soon.

Concluding what Vector said, we'd be in a whole lot of more trouble. As redundant as it sounds, we need those 'pain receptors' in our brains so that we can be aware of what is inflicting the pain and how we can avoid it. If you step on a nail while barefoot, you won't feel any pain but the damage is still present. It would be more like a 'quiet' damage where the person is unaware of what happened, but is still at risk of infection.

We would all die a lot younger for sure. For example in a boxing match people would beat each other to death. I have actually read of disorders or disease or whatever it is called where people don't have the ability in their nervous system to communicate the pain in their hand to their brain, which is scary. It would kind of be like being mentally handicapped and you would need to constantly be watched by your parents or a supervisor. It would suck.

your body wouldn't repair itself and you'd die.
Pain is your body telling your brain to start repairs.

I don't think that's true.

Now you would be able to feel pain so you could severely hurt yourself. But I don't think that if you feel pain, that lets your brain know to repair. Because when things don't hurt... like when you go into shock... you still heal.

I broke my leg and felt nothing, yet it still healed. I actually walked on it for two weeks. I get inner ear infections to the extent of my ear drum is about to rupture, but I feel no pain. I just go deaf.

There was an episode of House with a girl that had that problem. Pretty interesting.
