The egg, the first chicken would have hatched from the first chicken egg.

(also, eggs came WAY before chickens)

This was asked before:

I did not come up with this theory but heard it from myself and I believe it. Did god drop a baby down on earth when he created it? No. He put down a man. God created the first man, and God created the chicken and all other animals. And then said multiply. Thats it.

Sounds pretty good.

I heard the alternative from someone else.
It goes like this.

A rock that didn't exist exploded. And rain that didn't exist fell on the dirt and made mud (soup). The mud for some unknown reason decided to come alive, and it learned to replicate itself, and eventually over billions of years through countless variations turned into either a chicken or an egg. They just don't know.
Hmm...that sounds kind of stupid. But the person who told me held advanced degrees in science.

Here is another alternative:

An all-powerful, omniscient supernatural being who cannot be known, who had no beginning or end and is sexually a male, decided to create from nothing an entire universe. He then created a planet and made a creature from dust that was supposed to worship the supernatural being. Forgetting that the creature needed a mate, he later created one from the creature's rib. The creatures did not know right from wrong, so the Being planted a tree that would grant this knowledge, but forbade the creatures from eating of the tree's fruit. They innocently did, and the all-knowing being got angry and evil was allowed to pervade the universe. Suddenly, tigers no longer ate grass, and spiders no longer drank nectar. All the fossil evidence was then planted to see if the creatures faith would hold strong, and physics was distorted to make the universe seem billions of years old for the same devious reason.

The chicken, therefore, was created, and so came before the egg.

If you aren't taught this stuff as a child, you would never believe it or be willing to kill for it.

The chicken. The modern day chicken is a crossbreed/evolved form of the red junglefowl and the grey junglefowl.

Egg, the chicken came out of the egg. The egg came from something that technically wasn't a chicken.
