How fast is the iPhone 4?

It is no secret that the iPhone 4 runs on the Apple A4 chip. What is still relatively a secret is the exact speed that the chip performs at while inside the iPhone 4. Although it runs in the iPad at a pretty well known speed of 1 GHz, that doesn't necessarily mean that is the speed it is running at on the iPhone.

In all previous versions Apple has underclocked the iDevices - doing so helps with battery life and internal heat issues. Because of this it is estimated that the phone runs at 800 MHz.

The original model and the 3G model had a 620 MHz processor but was clocked down to 412 MHz, while the 3GS model had a 833 MHz clock speed tuned down to 600 MHz. One can only guess the processory in the next model.

Androids are still faster :)

Take your buddy's iphone 4 against your driod and download speakeasy.net speed test. It test the phones ability to upload and download from whatever network it is on. Iphone will win this test every time against a android on the same network.

	I have one of each. I like the iPhone better because it's more stable even after jail breaking than the droid. the iPhone still wins out for speed against the 4g of the droid
