Well the first good thing is the processor an i7 is not bad at all. The RAM could potentially be running at a higher speed - I believe mine may be 1600MHz but 1333MHz is not bad at all. Good hard drive, and not bad video card.

When I am building a computer on a budget ($1000 is decent for a computer, but more is obviously ideal) - I always go for AMD. They are so much cheaper and I feel as though they can compete.

I opted for an AMD Phenom 965 2.4 GHz quad core, 8GB DDR-3 RAM, 2TB hard drive, 1GB video card and I spent $1000. This was over a year ago too so its for sure possible to get a better bang.

So when you say, "not bad video card.", what does that mean? I can't seem to find many reviews on this specific one, but some say it could run Crysis at max settings and a high resolution smoothly, while others say it's not really all that good.

At 1GB that should be able to handle anything. I still remember having a 32MB video card was impressive, and 64MB was unheard of. :D

It's a decent video card with a large amount of vRAM. The 1GB of vRAM won't make much difference unless it's used though, which will only be the case at HUGE resolutions.

So, were those reviewers right, could it play Crysis at max settings and a high resolution without any loss of framerate?

I don't know -- I haven't tried it with those exact specs. Only way to tell is by trying it.
