How big of a difference will adding a second 2 GB graphics card make to video game performance, if I'm at 1920 x 1080 resolution?

It depends a lot on the model of graphics card, what kind of games you're playing, and what settings you expect to play at. However, in most cases, the short answer to this question is not much. The real benefit of a crossfire/sli setup comes with large format/multi monitor setups with 5760 x 1080 resolutions and so on. I have a single HD 6950 2GB with an outdated proc, and I'm still able to play all of my games at full or near full settings at that resolution. Once I unlock to 6970, and get my sandy bridge proc in and overclocked, my system should be able to handle anything the gaming industry can throw at it. Long story short, unless you want a ton of monitors, I'd get a bigger, badder GPU before spending the dough on a dual GPU setup

I also have a 6950. If adding another 2 gig wouldn't make a big difference, I was thinking of upgrading to a 4 gig, but that is EXPENSIVE.

Parasyte, if adding 2GB won't make a difference, then adding 4GB is likely to make even less of a difference.

I meant just buy an entirely new graphics card, and replace my current one. That won't make a difference?

No, re-read my comment. I was referring to your suggestion that if 2GB didn't make a difference, you'd upgrade to 4GB instead.

It's graphics memory, not processing power. It makes no difference unless you use it, which in your case probably wouldn't happen.

I haven't tried it yet, and cannot try it for quite some time, but do you think my 2 gig could handle Crysis at max settings?
