When is the next iPhone coming out?

The normal release schedule that Apple follows is to announce their next iPhone release at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) every year in June, and release that iPhone model the following month. This however did not occur this year.

The rumor mill is currently churning out a few scenarios. Just as the iPhone 3G had the iPhone 3GS release after it with only a few small upgrades, that is the idea going forward for the iPhone 4. Since the iPhone 4 was such a large hardware and software release for Apple, the idea is the next upgrade will be minor. Perhaps a speed increase, ram and memory increase. Such a device may be labeled iPhone 4G.

However Apple could be taking the time to release another 5 star device with huge hardware and software advancements, probably called the iPhone 5. This rumor seems to be sticking around the most due to the fact that Apple is spending a significant more time this year developing and refining that model.

That said, the current "best guess" in the industry points to September or October 2011.

It is going to be out sometime in the beginning to middle of October
