Do you think the Nintendo Wii U will recapture the Hardcore audience?

(Guest): This time Nintendo is trying to recapture the hardcore audience for its new console being released in 2012, The Nintendo Wii U. The Graphics are confirmed to be more powerful then PS3 and 360 Apparently! But we have not seen any proper game graphics. The confirmed games are Hardcore expect the few games that are falling to more casual. Here are the confirmed games shown at E3 2011.

Aliens: Colonial Marines

Batman: Arkham City

Darksiders II

Killer Freaks from Outer Space

Lego City Stories

Metro: Last Light

Ninja Gaiden 3

Pikmin 3

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Online

Untitled Super Smash Bros. sequel

Do you think with these games, Nintendo will recapture the Hardcore gamers?

I don't think so. I know it's going to be a great system, but I think it started the 8th generation too early. Nintendo is always really good with pricing their consoles, so if they had waited until the PS4 and Xbox 720 came out, I think they'd do great, but they just started too early.

With the Nintendo Gamecube it was a cross of casual and hardcore. in the beginning the Wii went off OK but more casual developers took over. With the Games 3rd party developers are releasing, it seems Nintendo may recapture the hardcore market if they don't rush it like with the Nintendo 3ds at launch. on the 3DS launch what Nintendo did wrong; it was to release e shop and things like that months after launch.

I consider my self as a hardcore gamer, I have a Wii and PS3 for my main consoles. I have a PS3 for the hardcore high graphic games like COD. And i have my Wii for the Exclusives like Zelda and Metroid. My opinion as a hardcore gamer on the Wii U: I think it's quite amazing putting hardcore and it will attract hardcore gamers its certainly attracted me!

Nintendo's Iwata said the Wii u will appeal to Core gamers. Apparently he admits that the Nintendo Wii was casual. Wii u is going to be aiming for Core mainly as the 3rd party are releasing Hardcore games, And Nintendo said that few games are for casual.

And one thing to add to what I think, Nintendo should not rush it. and for the other thing on this website for when the Wii u is coming out. I agree Nintendo should release it on 29th June for Eu as its a great release date. And kinect is attracting more 3rd party casual audiences with its games.

Microsoft may become the Next casual.
Nintendo may become the next hardcore.
Sony will stay the same in my opinion.

Remember Nintendo 'Don't rush, take your time but remember the competition and try to aim for late June release date'.

Are we talking the "core gamers" at large or Nintendo's core audience? The two don't always overlap.

It's talking about all the hardcore gamers, so hardcore gamers on PS3 X box ETC. The Wii was mainly casual.

Its about if nintendo will get the hardcore gamers, that play FPS's and play games often.

It's hard to tell, but personally I can't see it happening. "hardcore" gamers will always prefer a solid, recognizable controller in their hands.

I agree, But game developers are going to make the most out of the controllers screen. I'd say a way games are made, In ghost recon online, They are using the Wii u controller as a spy drone, Which is amazing.

Gear box (Aliens: Colonel Marines developer) said they can make good use of the controller by using the controller as a Radar just like from the film.

I'd love to see how the Wii u controller can be used for some games, The controller will be great as a radar!

A call of duty game has been rumored for Wii U exclusively or PS4/620

Really, my opinion. Nintendo Will have a high chance of getting their wanted hardcore crowd back to Wii U.

Late June 2012 is a rumor for the release date, I'm preordering when the preorders go up in my local store.
