Would the Xbox 360 have been as successful if it were the "Xbox 2"?

Xbox 2 sounds pretty pathetic, and Xbox 360 sounds so much more rad imo

I would still be willing to buy and play it if it were called Xbox 2.

If I had the money for it of course.

Part of creating a new game console is giving it a name that appeals to the public. Prior to release, the companies will test what name, and sleek outer shell will hopefully gain the most profit.

I mean, look at Nintendo products... They certainly could have kept making "nintendo" this and "nintendo" that... But changing up the pace and having good advertising is what really helps. Would you want a Nintendo Cube or a Gamecube!? This being geared toward kids, this answer seems obvious to me.

Also, a little bit of fyi, prior to the general public release of the "Xbox 360" it was actually just being referred to as the Xbox 2.

I think the name Xbox 360 is definitely a more successful name than the name Xbox 2. Xbox 360 gives it a cool new edge, I think a new name like 360 catches people attention. It is cooler and easier to remember than just calling it Xbox 2. Xbox 2 just sounds boring.
