Do you think a Lightsaber of some similarity to Star Wars could be a future weapon?

Kenbo: How cool would that be if it does.

I doubt it.

It would be really cool though.

I'm sure it could be a possibility in the future, but I'm not sure if it would actually become reality.

I remember seeing "Star Wars Tech" on the History Channel, where they showed what would be currently possible, and what isn't possible now, nor would be in the near future. Unfortunately the lightsaber fell under the latter, because they don't know of a way to get light to actually bounce off of light, as well as to confine it to a certain length (they mentioned laser pointers and stuff like that, how they can't exactly get it to cut off at an exact point). :(

It'd be soooo awesome though. :D

I see a Blaster Pistol/Rifle having more of a chance of actually being created than a Lightsaber.

A plasma beam could be done, but I think it would keep going until the energy dissipated. Thus making it a bit unpractical for sword fights.
