Why do they still make games for PS2, but not XBox or GameCube?

Parasyte: My guess is that it's because no one has a PS3, because they cost so much.

They still do make games for the Wii. o_O

The PS2 console sales are still doing good, believe it or not. Just as well, Sony has taken out the backwards compatibility in the newer PS3 models, meaning if you wanna play a PS2 game, you'll have to use a PS2. 360's do have this, thus it isn't really necessary. Same with the Wii and GC. ;(

Gamecube never really seemed to be that great according to a bunch of players, but I liked most of my games. They developers just stopped developing for the system when Nintendo halted production because they wanted all sales towards the Wii.

Xbox stopped because Microsoft added complete (or almost complete) backwards compatibilty to the 360 and the hardware had much more potential so developers hopped to that system.

PS2 is a successful system that still sells strong today and has first party development as well as third party support.

If the team behind a system supports it strongly, other developers will as well. (hence the numerous Wii titles because Nintendo would never not support it)

Not everyone could afford the PS3 so they needed to keep the money coming in, now I think they've stopped though.

Aside from the above, 360 and Wii can play xbox and Gamecube games (respectively). Most working PS3 units now cannot play PS2 games, which has been a stumbling block for upgrades (and I think PS2 still has more units sold than most current gen machines) - and people who haven't upgraded aren't buying your game if it's not on their system.

Contrary to the previous statements, xbox no longer offers backwards compatibly on its 360's if you want one that plays origanal xbox games you have to buy a special gaming addition that retails for about 350
