Do colors release calming hormones? If so what colors?

Blue is considered a very calming color but I believe that's the only one. I could be wrong though.

Blue and other colors tend to calm people down. Usually dark colors like blue and purple and darker shades of green do the trick.

Blues definitely are calming- colors with blue tones (like green and purple) are also calming. However, darker tones of these colors may have a depressive effect on some people whereas the brighter tones of these colors are most likely to induce a peaceful energy in a person.

I wouldn't say the color releases a hormone... viewing a particular color just makes you feel a certain way from a previous experience. Or it could be irritating with bright red or just gross colors like sea foam green.

Personally, I couldn't have a room completely painted a certain shade of green because big bodies of water tend to scare me. Also a completely white or completely black room would scare me as well.

You know when you're watching a cartoon (there's an episode of Spongebob with this in it) and a character gets stuck in an endless void of black or white?

That scares the crap out of me.
