Does coffee increase the chances of ulcers?

Chicken Nugget: I drink coffee fairly regularly. I was once told that it is likely for regular coffee drinkers to develop stomach ulcers. Is this true?

Ooo.. thanks, this was very informative.

I'm not sure in regards to straight coffee. I'm sure it varies on the potency, blend and all sorts of minor characteristics. My grandfather developed ulcers because of his obsessive coffee drinking when he was younger. The doctors informed him that it was much healthier to drink black coffee as opposed to coffee with heavy cream and sugar (which was his preference). He also had about eight good sized cups of it a day, however.

Chances are that unless you're a very hearty coffee drinker and you like to spruce it up a bit, you should be just fine.
