Will Intel's Light Peak Interface Beat USB?Intel's new Light Peak interface, introduced as the new standard port, could replace USB in a number of years. Offering transfer rates of 10Gb/s and expandable up to 100 Gb/s over the next decade light peak could revolutionize the way we connect peripheral devices. Not without criticism, however, OEMs point to possible shortcomings and the heavy task of usurping USB in suggesting the switch from copper connections to optics may come later than Intel thinks.
